The Empusa is a small, but powerful, assault unit. Its pilots are trained to perform kamikaze missions to inflict massive amounts of damage on enemy ships. However, the Empusa is only effective against opposing ships, and only when sent on an attack. When attacking, the Empusa will sacrifice itself in the first round of battle to inflict as much damage as possible. When defending, the Empusa will not sacrifice itself in the first round, but its attack (weapon) rating is 0.

Analysis
Advantages
The Empusa has the lowest ore cost of all offensive ships, and the attack rating of this vehicle is only beaten by the Prometheus, Thanatos, and Zeus. The Empusa is also one of the fastest attack ships in the game, making it possible to add these to an existing attack when the fleet is much closer to the target, or they could be the sole attackers, giving an opponent less time to prepare for the attack than any other ship. Destroyed empusas leave behind very little debris for an opponent to take either.
Disadvantages The Empusa will all engage in random kamikaze attacks during the first round of a battle, whether or not there are suitable targets for them. They fire once per battle, not once per round in battle, and then they are gone. Empusa are terrible ships for fodder, very costly in hydrogen, and are unable to collect resources in a raid.
Uses Empusas are often built using excess hydrogen during peace time. They can then be sent out to destroy enemy fleets, either simply to harm another player, to create a debris cloud, or to soften the opponent up for a more substantial raid. The relatively low cost, small debris produced, and high speed allow Empusas to also serve some of the less common uses of Hermes: rapid transport of resources to areas in bad need, altering the arrival time of an attack, supplementing an attacking fleet at the last minute, and sitting around planets in need of a little bit of defensive fodder.
