Vacation Mode

Vacation Mode freezes your account so nobody can touch it while you are away. Your planets and moons cannot be attacked, spied on or hit by missiles, all production stops, and you are locked out of that universe until you switch it back off. It is free and there is no time limit on how long you stay.

You will find it under More, then Settings, then the Protection tab. Diplomacy Mode and PVE Mode sit on the same tab.

Turning it on

You can only start a vacation when nothing is running. Every kind of task counts: buildings, research, ships, defenses, missions, fleets and missile strikes. If anything is still in progress the button is greyed out and the page tells you to wait for it to finish or cancel it.

Incoming attacks do not stop you, but going on vacation is not a way to dodge one. Your own fleet has to be home before you can enable it, so it will be parked on the planet when the attack lands. Anything launched at you before you switched vacation mode on still arrives. Vacation only stops new attacks being sent.

When you confirm, the game pays out everything your mines have produced up to that second and then stops production.

While you are away

  • Your planets and moons cannot be attacked, spied on or hit by missiles. Anyone who opens an attack or spy screen on you sees "Target is on vacation and cannot be attacked" and cannot dispatch.
  • Nothing is produced. Mines, power and the small free amount every planet gets all stop. Your resources sit at exactly the number they were when you left.
  • You cannot do anything in that universe. Every page redirects to the vacation screen, so buildings, shipyard, research, the galaxy, messages and the alliance forums are all out of reach. The unread count on the Messages tab still goes up, you just cannot open it.
  • Other players can still message you and send buddy requests. It is all waiting when you get back.
  • NPC encounters stop spawning around your planets.
  • You will not be deleted for being idle. The inactive player cleanup skips anyone on vacation.

Vacation is per universe, not per account. If you have players in other universes you can carry on playing them, and there is a Switch universe link on the vacation screen.

How other players see you

Your planets and moons show a blue v in the Status column of the Galaxy screen. Hovering it says "On vacation: immune to attacks, espionage, and missiles". Your last active time is hidden the whole time the marker is up. In the Oracle you still appear in the list, but the spy button is greyed out and reads "Player is vacation-protected".

After 7 days without a login you also pick up the normal i inactive marker, and I after 21 days. That is only a note about how long you have been gone. It does not weaken your protection and it does not make you attackable.

The galaxy legend also lists an uppercase V for a vacation whose protection has run out. That rule is switched off at the moment, so nobody is ever in that state and the only marker you will actually see is the lowercase v.

Coming back

You have to stay on vacation for at least 48 hours. Until then the Disable button is greyed out and the vacation screen shows the exact date and time you are allowed to leave.

After that, press Disable Vacation Mode and you land straight back on the Overview page. Nothing expires on its own, so if you never press it you stay on vacation.

Your resource clock is reset to the moment you return. The time you were away produces nothing, and production picks up again from there.

My account was marked inactive after 7 days when I went into vacation mode. This is not how it is supposed to work according to the wiki and every other time playing in BFG.
