Fleets and missions
- How do I get more fleets?
- Research A.I. Tech. You start with one fleet slot and every level of A.I. Tech adds one more, so A.I. Tech 8 gives you nine fleets. The slots belong to your account, not to a planet, so all your planets draw on the same pool. Nothing else in SFC2 adds fleet slots. There are no commanders to hire.
- How many attacks or missions can I run at the same time?
- As many as you have fleet slots. Anything you launch holds a slot until it is home again, and that means missions, probes, transports, colony ships and harvests, not just attacks. The counter sits at the top of the Fleets page and on the Overview sidebar.
- What is the difference between Deploy and Transport?
- Both carry cargo. Deploy unloads the resources and leaves the ships parked at the target. Transport unloads the resources and flies the ships straight back. Either way you can only pick a planet or moon you already own.
- Can I send resources to another player?
- No. Transport and Deploy will not let you choose somebody else's planet, and there is no trade window between players. Credits are the only thing that can change hands directly, and only the ones you bought or were granted by an admin. Arranging a fake attack so a friend can plunder your resources is pushing, and that is against the rules.
- What happens when I cancel a fleet?
- It turns around at once and takes exactly as long to get home as it has already been flying. The ships and the cargo all come back. The hydrogen it burned on the way out is gone.
- How do I unlock more missions?
- Research. Missions open up as you reach the tech levels they ask for. There is no crew in SFC2, so nothing is locked behind crew points, crew droids or a factory. Once a mission is unlocked you still need the ships it lists, and those are counted across every planet you own, not just the one you are looking at. Expedition Tech raises the payout of every mission by 30 percent per level. Some missions are daily and can only be run once per planet per day.
- Do I lose ships on a mission?
- No. Ordinary missions never cost you ships. NPC encounters and secret missions are real battles, so those absolutely can.
Attacks and protection
- Why do I keep getting attacked?
- Because your fleet and your resources are sitting at home where a single probe can see them. The answer is fleet saving: send everything out on a trip that lands after you are back at the keyboard. There is a Fleet Save button on the Fleets page for exactly this, and it needs at least one recycler in the fleet or the dispatch is refused. A Resource Den hides part of what is left behind. 8 Rules to Live By is worth ten minutes of your time.
- Why can't I attack this player?
-
One of these is in the way:
- Either of you is under 750 Resources Spent Points. That is newbie protection and it works both ways.
- The smaller of the two of you is under 25,000 RSP and your scores are more than five times apart. Once the smaller player passes 25,000 the gap stops mattering.
- They are in Diplomacy Mode, Vacation Mode or PVE Mode.
- You are in Diplomacy Mode or PVE Mode yourself.
- You have already landed six attacks on that planet in the last 24 hours.
- You have no free fleet slot.
- What do the letters after a player's name mean?
-
The Galaxy screen has a Legend button that lists them all. The ones people ask about most:
- n newbie protection, or simply too weak for you to attack. N too strong for you to attack.
- i has not logged in for 7 days. I has not logged in for 21 days. Inactive players lose every protection.
- d in Diplomacy Mode. ! switching Diplomacy Mode on or off right now.
- v on vacation. P PVE Mode.
- (*) active in the last 15 minutes, and (38m) last seen 38 minutes ago.
- How do I stop being attacked for a while?
-
Three switches, all in one place: More then Settings then Protection.
- Diplomacy Mode is free. Nobody can attack, probe or missile you and you cannot do any of it to them. It takes 24 hours to come on and 24 hours to come off, and while it is on your mines are cut by 25, 50 or 75 percent depending on your RSP. It stops protecting you if you go 7 days without logging in.
- Vacation Mode is free and freezes the whole account. Nothing produces, you are locked out of the universe until you come back, and you have to stay on it for at least 48 hours. You cannot switch it on with builds, research, missions or fleets running.
- PVE Mode is a Store item: 15,000 credits for a day, 60,000 for a week, 160,000 for 30 days. Player combat is off in both directions, but you keep farming NPCs and running secret missions, and there is no production penalty.
- How much can an attacker take?
- Up to half of whatever is sitting on the planet when the battle ends, and only as much as their cargo holds. It is 55 percent if the two alliances are at war. A Resource Den shields a fixed amount from every raid. See plunder.
- How often can one player hit the same planet?
- Six landed attacks in 24 hours, then the game blocks them. Probes and missiles do not count. The limit is lifted between alliances that are at war, and it never applies to NPCs. See bashing.
- Where did the debris from their defenses go?
- There isn't any. Destroyed ships leave 30 percent of their ore and crystal as debris, but destroyed defenses leave nothing at all, and each turret that dies has a 70 percent chance of being rebuilt for free the moment the battle ends. Punching through a wall of turrets never pays for itself. Only the plunder behind it does.
Planets and building
- Is the Gaia Class used up every time I make a colony?
- Yes. One Gaia Class Colony Ship per colony, consumed the moment it lands. If somebody colonized the slot while your fleet was flying, or you were already at the planet limit, the ship and its cargo come home instead.
- How many planets can I have?
- Ten. Moons do not count against the limit, and neither does a Hephaestus platform.
- Why is my production lower than the Buildings page said it would be?
- Energy. If your power plants and satellites make less energy than your mines want, every mine on that planet runs at that fraction. Produce 800 against a demand of 1,000 and all three mines run at 80 percent. Build another power plant or drop a mine a level and the shortfall goes away.
- Why can I only build one thing at a time?
- Each planet runs one building or mine upgrade at a time. Research is one at a time for the whole account, whichever planet you start it from. Ships and defenses share a single queue per planet. On top of that, a running research blocks a Research Lab upgrade, and a running ship or defense build blocks a Shipyard or Foundry upgrade.
- Where is the Oracle?
- It is a building, not a menu item. Build the Oracle on a planet or a moon and an Open Oracle button appears on its row on the Buildings page. It is what SFC1 called Scans.
Your account
- What happens if I stop playing?
- After 7 days without a login you are flagged inactive and anyone can attack you, whatever the newbie protection or diplomacy rules would normally say. At 21 days the marker changes from i to I. A player idle for 35 days can be deleted outright. Vacation Mode keeps you out of that, and so does having bought credits at any point.
- Can I have more than one account?
- One player per universe, one person per account. The Rules link in the footer has the full list, including account sitting and what counts as pushing.
- How do I get credits?
- You are given 10,000 when you join a universe. After that they come from the Store, or from another player. Note that a player can only pass on credits they bought or were granted by an admin: the starting 10,000 and anything somebody else sent them are locked in place.
- I am brand new. Where do I start?
- Follow the Quests list in the More menu. It walks you through the first few hours and pays you for each step. After that, read the Quick Start Guide and get your mines up before you spend anything on ships.
